Diros: Leaving the main road just a bit southern from Areopolis, the Tower of Diros, cascades to the coastal location of caves Glyfada (or Vlychada), Shelter and Alepotrypa. Beneath the soil lies Mani’s unspeakable beauty, the most beautiful lake cave in the world..

Underground river, developed in two main parallel runways with several secondarys. The exploration of the cave began in 1949 by the androgynous cavers John and Anna Petrochilou, of the Greek Speleological Society.

Its use started in 1958, and in 1963 worked with onshore section of 600 meters. In 1979 they discovered some new parts, and also mapped terrestrial and lake corridors, so now its total length reaches exactly 6000 meters.

The cave consists of stalactites and stalagmites, and was formerly a land, but over the centuries the water level rose from the sea and so the formations of stalactites resembling white columns coming out of the water. As many times as you can ever visit the caves of Diros it ‘ll never be enough for your eyes to admiring follow of what has been offered as a gift by this nature cave. For 45 minutes on a winding path, the visitor remains speechless.
